New Post: Allow applications to access the console port??

Hello,

I have an application that communicates with several serial devices simultaneously. I would like to be able to use the console port on the Console-Vx board as a third RS-232 interface. Is there a way to release this port for use by applications?

Can’t think of anything off hand. I have seen similar stuff when firewalls are enabled. Make sure your firewall is not blocking these ports (3D4 46f in this case).

Hi,

I'm using a Verdex Pro XM4 COM with a ConsoleLCD 16 and an LG 4.3" LCD touchscreen.

I've been able to flash EBOOT and successfully run the NK.BIN supplied with the v1.4 BSP from a microSD card. I've got ActiveSync running on my PC and that side of things is all working fine.

Then I setup Platform Builder under Visual Studio 2005 and built my own NK.BIN based on the v1.4 BSP got it down to 14.2MB so that I can flash it to the board (release build with IMGFLASH=1).

The netMicro and netCF boards don't seem to be available any longer (I've got a NetPro-vx) so I haven't managed to get the network interface working with the board. I have tried the 'USB RNDIS' interface on EBOOT though and have successfully installed the RNDIS driver on my PC and got it talking to the Verdex board, setup the IP address and the MAC etc. When I try and upload the NK.BIN though either via Platform Builder Target > Attach Device or ESHELL it seems to connect to the Verdex ok but I always seem to hit the same brick wall with the FTP transfer ...

You can do C# and VB. You can also do native C++ development.

You can’t compile C++ on the target but you can cross compile in Visual Studio on PC and execute on target.

I was drawn to this package as a way to develop Window CE applications with C# and I am greatly happy with it so far. While I will mostly use that for most projects, does your Gumstix BSP support other .Net language development like C++. Or can it be used to compile C programs?

So sorry to sound dumb, but I am new to Wifi networking. What is the name of the the standard CE API's that you like to use? For reference I am trying to connect to an access point connected to a laptop and send TCP and/or UDP wirelessly bewtween the gumstix and the computer. Your help is much appreciated,

Hey, just about to deploy your image on a verdex xm400. what i'm not quite clear about is how to receive the "uboot saves size 40000" file through hyperterminal. Can you help me with that issue?

Any body use the Wifi module on a Gumstix Verdex using the windows CE BSP? Do you develop your application the same as you would a standard PC or is there a special gumstix API that we need to use?

I don't remember all the details off hand but you might try setting an USB RNDIS mac address (anything will do).

You really can't save the time as the Verdex does not incorporate a battery backed real time clock.

If you are powering the whole device from a large battery, you can "suspend" and "resume" and the time will not be lost.

Cold restart will reset the clock to default time.

Cannot connect to ActiveSync 4.5 (AS45).

AS45 on this machine *will* recognize a cradled motorola MC3090 handheld

AS45 on this machine will *NOT* recognize the verdex

AS45 on my other machine *will* recognize a cradled motorola MC3090 handheld

AS45 on my other machine will *NOT* recognize the verdex

However, both machines recognized that there was "something there" and installed drivers.

Does the stuff in red/bold below make any difference?

What am I missing?

Figured out #1 ... got the BSP and did a build, but included IE ... Used the Industrial Device template I believe

Hi ... I am quite new to using CE on gumstix.

First ... many thanks to the authors for their hard work on this project.

Now .. my questions. I loaded up the NK.BIN from the SDK zip file, and I have a booting windows CE OS.

1) How can get internet explorer running on the device?

2) How can I get the time to save from boot to boot? Each time I boot, the time and timezone is reset.

The error comes from the sensing of the LAN chip ID and revision. My guess is the LAN part has changed.

It’s not uncommon for Gumstix to change parts without notice.

This is the code where the sensing takes place:

If this is the case the only option is to replace the dll. I do not know if SMSC has a prebuild ARM version for this one.

You can always down load the source from SMSC and rebuild it but I don’t know if that is all that may be needed.

I managed to flash and boot U-BOOT and get net MAC-address.

i reflash the device and i entered the mac address to network card ,but still having the same problem.

hardware DWORD 0x0000d026

any suggestions ??

The prebuilt image was tested working Ethernet. Make sure you have the hardware dword set correctly.

The problem with the bin2serec is the terminator record is missing. You can hand edit (it is just a text file) the file as the post describes.

I use the prebuild image from the SDK and yes i saved the settings and reset. I see the MAC ADDRESS that i gave in EBOOT but the error still exists.

I also tried to flash with bin2srec but i get an error in the end of file like a previous post .
